MakeGlow was accepted for the Innovator In Residence fellowship at SELCO Foundation from Jan-Oct 2018. With the help of SELCO Foundation, user research was conducted across rural schools in the Belthangady District in Karnataka. A final prototype was developed, manufacturer and vendor links was established in Bangalore and finally 100 pieces of MakeGlow kits were piloted across rural off-grid communities in Karnataka.
MakeGlow was awarded Second prize under the Energy and Resource alternatives category in the Big Ideas 2017 competition held at UC Berkeley. MakeGlow received funding for the prototype development. Also, MakeGlow was awarded Honorable Mention during the Grand Prize Pitch day conducted at UC Berkeley as part of the Big Ideas 2017 competition.
MakeGlow was awarded the Poverty Alleviation through Sustainable Solutions (PASS) Grant by the Blum Center for Developing Economies UC Davis, 2017.
